Every year, we all celebrate the arrival of spring with the sight and sound of birds, but it is easy to take this annual event for granted. In the last 50 years, North American bird populations have dropped by more than 25%. TOC actively works to protect birds by reducing human- caused threats to their survival, by preserving habitat, and by advocating for birds at a political level. Although we focus on birds, we recognize their role as an indicator species for the health of ecosystems and biodiversity. We are a Toronto-based club, but our concerns and activities expand well beyond our city limits. Our club networks with other clubs and organizations that share our concern for birds and their well-being. TOC endeavours to keep our members informed and engaged in conservation issues. |
